Bum Glue

writers-butt-glueAuthor Bryce Courtney said in an interview on Australian television many years ago that bum glue was the major ingredient when asked what it takes to write a great novel.
I found over time that writing songs, books or creating anything at all requires a deadline as far as I am concerned.

If I have all the time in the world to write, I wont write a bloody thing. But faced with a deadline, perhaps with the lure of a check but not necessarily, I can deliver something of note in no time at all.
That is why I have decided to write something every day. It doesn’t really matter what it is. I have learned over 40 years of creating things that not everything you create is good or even worthwhile but out of all the pondering, penning and pretension; something good comes along. An original thought or perspective is brought to life. So here is where I will leave evidence of my existence with digital ramblings and my view on the world just incase anyone ever reads them and somehow is better of for having done so.

Thinking about it though, I really should have started this a year ago. So I am going to. Everyday I will post one thing today and one thing from me a year ago. We will see how that works out.
